A Substantial 16" Curb Double Albert Chain in 9ct Gold
A Substantial 16" Curb Double Albert Chain in 9ct Gold
A particularly lovely and substantial antique 16” curb double Albert chain crafted in 9ct rose gold with a matching T bar and double dog clip clasps. This beautiful chain is an everyday classic. It can be worn Albert style, with the T bar at the front, or the T bar can be moved to the back of the neck and a pendant could be attached to the dog clips as the front.
The chain dates from the beginning of the 20th century. It is crafted in 9ct antique rose gold. The chain measures approximately 16 inches/40.6cm long and weighs 46.5g.
The chain's links are slightly graduated in size. The largest links in the middle of each half of the chain measure approximately 7mm x 6mm x 2.5mm, while the smallest links at the end of each half of the chain measure approximately 5mm x 4mm x 1.4m. Every link is stamped with ‘9’ and ‘375’ for 9ct gold. Some of the stamps are quite worn due to the age of the chain.
The dog clips are both stamped '9 375' for 9ct gold and have the maker's mark of 'MW Ltd'. . The dog clips measure approximately 22mm from end to end.
The T bar is stamped '9 375' for 9ct gold and has the anchor stamp for the Birmingham Assay Office. It also has the maker's mark of 'MW Ltd'. The T bar measures 38mm across. The Albert has a small dangle of chain hanging with the T bar where a fob would have once hung. This dangle measures 20mm long.
