A wonderful small antique jewellery box crafted in pale blue/grey velvet and Liberty of London tana lawn. This box has space for approximately five rings or earrings in cushions along the top of the box. Below the cushions there are five compartments for other pieces of jewellery such as chains and pendants. This beautiful box is the perfect place to display and store your collection of jewellery - it is ideal for the nightstand or dressing table.

The exterior of the box is covered with black faux leather with a faded gold frame around the top of the lid. The box has its original brass flip over clasp. It dates from the early part of the 20th century. The lid lays flat when the box is open.

The inside and edge of the lid of this beautiful box is crafted in Liberty of London tana lawn (cotton) with their famous Ianthe design in blue, cream, pale pink, yellow and green. Ianthe is possibly Liberty's most iconic Art Nouveau design. It was originally created as a wallpaper border by the French artist Beauclair in the early 1900’s. The design was subsequently adapted for Liberty by the Haward Studio in 1967 and has formed part of their collections ever since, becoming part of the Tana Classics in 1986.

The external measurements of the box at its widest points are approximately 15cm X 13cm X 5cm tall. This is an antique box that has been repurposed box as a jewellery box.

Please look at the photographs as they form part of the description. This is an old box and as such shows some signs of wear and tear. There are some marks and discolouration to the outside of the box. This does not detract from the overall beauty of this wonderful jewellery box.
