A Small Antique Jewellery Box in Pink with a Liberty of London Lid

A Small Antique Jewellery Box in Pink with a Liberty of London Lid
A wonderful antique jewellery box crafted in pale pink velvet and linen with a Liberty of London tana lawn lid. This box is particularly small - it is the size of a compact glasses’ case. It closes with a satisfying click to its original push button clasp. It would make an excellent travel box for a few pieces of jewellery.
The inside of the lid of this beautiful box is crafted in Liberty of London tana lawn (cotton) with their famous Ianthe design in pastel blue and pink. Ianthe is possibly Liberty's most iconic Art Nouveau design. It was originally created as a wallpaper border by the French artist Beauclair in the early 1900’s. It was subsequently adapted for Liberty by the Haward Studio in 1967 and has formed part of their collections ever since, becoming part of the Tana Classics in 1986.
The exterior of the box is covered with reddish brown faux leather. The lid lays flat when the box is open. The box dates from the early part of the 20th century.
The external measurements of the box at its widest points are approximately 12.5cm X 7cm X 2.5cm tall. This is an antique box that has been repurposed box as a jewellery box.
Please look at the photographs as they form part of the description. This is an old box and as such shows some signs of wear and tear. There are some marks and discolouration to the bottom of the box. This does not detract from the overall beauty of this wonderful jewellery box.
The jewellery is for display purposes only and are not included in the sale.
